STUART HAGUE

Stuart died on 12th March 2012 from Motor Neurone Disease. He was the gentlest and kindest of men and I was fortunate to share his life for 30 years. Although this is a terrible illness, he met all its challenges with patience and good humour. The way he lived, and his courage at the end of his life, set us all an example we shall struggle to match. Stuart loved Nature. Towards the end of his life, when he was confined to his recliner chair for most of the time, he was content to watch the birds at the many feeders we had put around our pretty garden. No surprise then that it was his dearest wish to die at home. MND is very difficult to manage, and I was concerned that we would not be able to keep him comfortable enough at home. But he was able to have his wish, thanks to the dedication, professionalism and loving care of the Hospice at Home team, who enabled him to die quietly and peacefully here with us. In the days before he died, he asked me to make sure donations could be made to St Elizabeth Hospice, so I've set up this fund in his memory. Penny.
